Review on Applied Science SPM Question

Today was a big day for all teacher and student especially those who were involve in teaching and learning applied science in SM Teknik all over Malaysia. This day was the innagural SPM question for paper 4581/1 and 4581/2

For me, i was very eagerly looking forward to see the question. But....when i review the question in the afternoon, it was really disapointed. It is because the question was 80% concentrated on biology topic which is only 20% stress through out the KBSM syllabus.

As in my last posting in September i have stress out that applied science should stress more on physics topic because the student that i'm facing in school is a technical and mechanical oriented. We are not going to produced a student that going to be a biology oriented engineer but we are looking for individual that will be committed in the field of mechanical study's.

Looking back to what i have written:

"Applied science is the application of knowledge from one or more natural scientific fields to solve practical problems. Fields of engineering are closely related to applied sciences. Applied science is important for technology development. Its use in industrial settings is usually referred to as research and development (R&D)."

The purpose of biology topics (Module 8 and 9) and also chemistry (module 10), is just to introduce the student to a better understanding of nutrition, cell and reproduction. But when SPM question is 80% biology oriented, what happen to the 70% content of physics.

In my view, the person who incharge of building the question should done a lot of homework such as building better JSU (Jadual Spesifikasi Ujian) that contain more physics questions.

May be in the future they will charge it, or otherwise there is no point of introducing Applied Science subject to the vocational student.

Sorry for my English...i know there is a lot of error, please correct it..:)
